September First Friday: Surprise and Bridge Pause
Getting closer to #18. Putting7 miles in today was a must. I struggled. Not because of the time but by 5:30am it was already 70 degrees out. The weather was going to reach 90s today. The lovely fall like weather was not happening today.
Besides feeling the 70 degree weather it was another skunk morning. Clearly the darker and earlier it is, theyhave their run of the streets. I saw three when I walked out of my door. I think it was three, maybe two. Or maybe it was one that was really fast weaving in and out of cars. Are skunks fast?
That is how the am Friday run started. There was a lot of am activity going on. I stayed on the main streets and towards all the lights. As I was running to cross the Chelsea Bridge. I was blocked and had to stop. Lights went off , the barrier went up, and the bridge had to raise up because a boat was underneath.
I had a good rhythm going and then it stopped. No fault of my own. So what do you do? At some point, I know I was going to cross over. In the meantime, I had to have patience. Pandora, the music station was pumping out some of my dancing R and B jams. So I jammed andtwerked it out a bit. Before I knew it, the bridge came down, the barriers went up and I was able to continue my run.
We get those unexpected situations every now and then. Luckily I turned my wait to a nice dance session. If the wait had been longer, then I'm not sure what I would have done. Probably run back the other way. I would have come up with a new plan.
Then I got another surprise. I ran by the local stadium around 6:30 and there was a girls soccer team practicing and an am morning workout class exercising. I wanted to say " good morning my peoples." They were up and getting their exercise on and we were all here together.
Awwwww. That was a lovely moment for me. Then I had to leave and keep on running because I had a meeting to get ready for. Good way to start the First Friday of the month
