It's a 4th of July of female independence and strength. Also kn own as a double workout before 10 a.m. The morning started with a 5k run around Castle Island at 6 a.m. Some of my #girlgang ladies wanted to do a 4th of July run at 7:30 a.m., which is super late for me. Plus I had a 8:30a.m. weight class with the Cal-Zone #girlgang, so I couldn't fully run at 7:30. I told the ladies, I would give them a mile and a smile before I had to go.

I don't know why I was surprised to see so many people on the island before 6:30am.. They were getting their 4th picnicking area situated. As  I ran around Castle Island I saw the Queen Mary II and  she is enormous. Talk about a morning surprise. After she passed I kept running  around the island. It was good run.

Then when my #girlgang came I ran with them for a bit before heading to see #girlgang #2. For weight class we worked it out at the beach. The views and the breeze was great. I brought the sunscreen and weights.

Fuel for Thought: Our instructor played Whitney Houstons's Star spangled banner as we looked at the American  Flag. My thoughts: This song is not meant for African-Americans and this " holiday" isn't either especially in our current climate. Freedom and Independence for whom? As families  are being separated, unions are being destroyed and our educational system is racialized unequally.

That's my aside for the double #girlgang workout on the 4th.
