#girlgang running clinic day 5-4-3-2-1 run
The first Saturday in July is Running clinic day. Since the 4th of July holiday was in the middle of the week( which threw many people off, myself included), it also meant vacation for a many people. Our normal gang wasn't fully around because of this.
I started off the day by running 3.32 miles around Jamaica Pond by 7a.m. this morning. I loved that I saw all races, shapes, and abilities running. I even saw a Chinese running club, which I had no clue existed. I ran around the pound three times. It had a trail like feel and it wasn't flat. This was the pre-running clinic run.
Then I headed to Franklin Park. Shortly after I arrived( 8:40) Coach G showed up. I found out about getting a massage and the best places to go. And she recommended going 3 days before a half or marathon. The women in full of knowledge. When I get into the Paris Marathon, she is going to be my go-to for coaching and training.
The ladies showed up. The energy was so different than last week. I think the holiday and people being off and then having to go back to work shifted things.
We did a 5-4-3-2-1. You run for 5 minutes at a certain pass, then you run for 4 minutes at an increased pace, etc.. It's good to do this with someone who is a bit faster than you because it pushes you. Thankfully, we did hills last week because as we are doing the 5-4-3-2-1, it's an uphill situation. The coach thought I did good and he had to keep up with me at one point.
I'm just trying to get mentally strong for state#37 and those damn hills.
I can see the process of the ladies and she how strong they are becoming. This makes beyond super happy
