Starting Black History Month

Starting Black History Month

Feb 1st was a Friday rest day. Today is a long Saturday a.m. long 16 mile run in 17 degree weather. Just like last Saturday, I strapped on my water belt, which froze. I need to find a new means to have water and for it not to freeze on me. Today I ran a route that I know. East Boston, Revere( Revere Beach), and Lynn and then back again. 8 miles down, 8 miles back. I felt good at the 8 mile marker. Coming back, I got tired. I’m not sure what I need to work on. Nutrition I’m sure and perhaps I need new shoes as well. I stopped three times to get some water( what I could from the frozen water) or just to take a quick rest.

A good thing to note, my body didn’t curse me out. 16 miles overall felt good and I felt strong. My issues today were non run related. Frozen water, pebbles( or rocks in my shoes) that I couldn’t get out, my cell phone died on me( which had my music and mile tracker), and a frozen face at one point.

Time: 2:43:01 for 16.03 miles at a 10:10 pace/min

Last Saturday : 2:31:52 for 15.05 miles at 10:05 pace/min

I’m getting slower not faster but my endurance is getting better. There will be a lot of work in Feb. to do.
