COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

Today is Saturday and the start of the long weekend. For some it is Columbus Day weeked for others it is Indigenous People’s Day Weekend. I tend to fall in the latter category. This morning I did not run until 7 a.m. because I wanted to sleep in and have some light when I ran. Daylight savings time will end November 1st and my body is ready for us to move the clocks back. Getting up has been a struggle. I think also, with all the October surprises on the national front and local front, mental and emotional exhaustion is real. So a few extra hours of rest is needed.

This week and last week I’ve been doing a Shred Challenge with Chloe Ting. It’s a free 30 minute workout and I sweat and curse at Chloe like crazy but I believe this has upped my running game.

Today I was running 6.21 miles and I felt strong and I wasn’t in pain. I had a good bit of stamina and endurance. I remember that strength training is what helped my running performance in the past. I need to continue with Chloe.

This morning I ran along the Charles Esplanade. It had been a while since I ran over this way. Running a long the Charles is a good mix of nature and being in an urban setting.

To run at 7 a.m. was not bad. There was not an over crowding of people. As I got closer to finishing my 10k, I noticed more people running, biking, and walking. The 55 degree weather temp. was perfect for running. I had on long sleeve shirt and shorts. While running I saw the stalker geese and the masked dinosaur at the museum of science. There was a couple getting , I assume engagement photos taken, people picnicking, homeless people sleeping, and men and women on the Charles rowing.

I’m glad I saw it all in 6.21 miles at a 10:14 min/mil in 1:03:32. Feeling relaxed, recharged , and in a happy space
