Palm Sunday 10 miler

Palm Sunday 10 miler

COVID- 19 The Rona Era

Today was the second 10 miler of the year. It’s Sunday, Palm Sunday at that and there are no church services. That means no blessed Palms. To make the 10 miler interesting, I went on a scavenger hunt for Palms. I didn’t find any but I came close. My 10 mile journey was like being in Jerusalem but not..

Doing my own self reflection. I decided to wear clothing that would indicted that I am a runner. A real runner not someone out to get out of the house. Twisted I know. I wore my Mob Miler shirt and my 1st run hat. I wanted my identity to be seen as someone who is a runner in my neighborhood. Normally, I don’t see people who look like me especially as the neighborhood becomes gentrified. Part of wearing my runner’s identity is seeing other people running and getting ignored or dismissed. Also some of these runner’s take up space. I want to assert my space and presence too. I wanted to show my running authority. That was part of running this morning.

The other part of the search for Palms or things that were Palm like. The peace and quiet of running along the water was like being in church. The sound of the waves, the birds, and having really good music in my hear. I was in a happy reflective zone. Seeing symbols of easter made me happy. I thought I would see more. They maybe out next week, we’ll see.
