Last Summer Run: 2022

Last Summer Run: 2022

COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”

Today is officially the last day of summer. I think Fall already came in and decided to not wait for his official invitation. This summer was slow but then it went by fast. For six weeks I was in post surgery recovery from my last breast surgery. I did have a girl’s trip in early June to the ATL to see Coldplay and HER. It may not have been officially summer yet, I did finish state #48 and #49- Idaho and Wyoming. The Iowan came with me and I saw friends in Seattle and my girl Amelia came out and kicked with me in Wyoming. The rest of the summer…..?

Today, I thought about all of this as I ran around the Pond a couple of times for the last summer run. I did work on my manuscript a bit, not as much as I should. And I was featured in the REI Summer 2022 catalog. Not too bad.

This morning around the pond at 5:45a.m. it was dark. I don’t think my headlight was bright enough. It was going to have to work. Around the quiet pond, there were two women walking- loudly- with steps and their none stop talking. They didn’t have on any reflective gear which I found to be very odd. I guess their is power in numbers. I did see a runner and someone on their bike with reflective gear on. I thought only non-walkers had reflective gear on this morning but I was wrong. I did see a pair of old gentlemen walking with their dunkin coffee and flashlight. So there.

When I started running, it wasn’t too long until light slowly started to show itself. I will say, in the early morning the stalkers are out. I guess they own the dark because they took over sections of the pond. I guess it’s theirs anyways :).

Normally this would be a 10k a.m. humpday. I couldn’t stomach going around the pond three times. twice was enough. 4 miles in. I was happy with that. Again building my baseline. Though, the Boston 10k for women is in two weeks, so I do need to “ build up on my build” to get ready for this race.
