Fascist and racist Era of WTF
Running, finding joy, and an outlet have become essential. Especially in the first 100 days of that man being in office. The struggle is needing to know what is happening in this country but not wanting to know. The anger just keeps growing. I know that , that anger will stress me out and make me sick. I’ve already had “ The Cancer”. I’m not trying to get anything else.
I won’t even write the latest of shittery that has happened this week. A highlight that we talked about was the movie Sinners and the New Pope Leo with his black roots. That is Black Joy and right on point. We had a running/movie recap critique conversation.
This Saturday is was rainy AF. Runners, run in all kinds of weather. The rain came down hard, then stopped, then drizzled, then went hard again. I wasn’t sure about how the weather would be for our 8 a.m. run.
I drove to Peabody square and met up with Katonya. We just waited to see what would happen. If it got bad, then we would go home.
To our surprise the rain stopped and Captain Jeff showed up. Slowly, the other members of BMR came to the clock. April, during Boston Marathon weekend was the last time I saw the guys. It was great to see everyone again. We had three ladies from BGR show up.
After stretching , warm up run, announcements and stating our why for being in the space, we ran.
The energy, the vibe, it’s really like being at a family reunion. We have the options of 1 mile, 5k, or 5 mile. I decided to do 5k. My knees feel stronger.
Instead of doing interval running, I just wanted to run a to see how I felt. AnneMarie, stayed with me as we ran the 5k together. I felt strong and steady. We all started off together. There was a turn where the 5k folks would make and the 5 milers would keep straight.
There were 3 things that I had to walk a bit before resuming running. Anne Marie was right there with me. Even after I told her it was ok to go ahead. She didn’t.
As we ran, Captain Jeff called me to check in . I told him we were good and we would see him back at the clock. I appreciate him checking in and wanted to make sure we are good. That’s what I love about our community.
We did that. Made sure to cheer on everyone when they finished. It was perfect timing because the rain came down after we were all finished.
My time: 3:09. 11:46/mile pace 36:20
