Earth Day and March for Science with Polar Bear

Earth Day and March for Science with Polar Bear

I'm not sure if Mother Earth is happy today or not? I made Earth Day a run along Revere Beach day. It was a wet, windy, with strong waves kind of morning. I made sure to put in 4 miles because later on in the morning I was running a 5k Race Against Extinction.

PART I of Day

I love running along water. Clearly most of my am runs demonstrate that. That is my enjoyment and appreciation of mother earth. The point where the sea, sun, sand, wind, waves, and greenery come together. That is my enjoyment. I joyfully put in 4 miles

Part II of Day

I traveled across the river to Cambridge and Artesani Park for the 5k race against Extinction. It was cloudy, cold, and rainy. This event was also planned for my BGR sole sistas. This could be our 5k for the month plus we could support earth day. I finished around 26 minutes. We meet several folks young and old. A couple of people ran their first 5k today. I was extremely proud of my crew

Part III of Day

Today was also the March for Science. I did not March in Boston. But as I ran I thought pride in science because I am a scientist. Running is a science from the shoes, clothing, to preparing your body. I may not have marched but I am glad I was able to use my body and donate money for science and the earth today. Part of my running journey is using it as a tool for social justice and activism. It means so much more than just hitting pavement.

I wished I had seem more women and men of color out on the pavement today. Hopefully I will be able to get more people out and about
