7 degree a.m track work

Saturday this week, we had our first snow of 2019! It was more freezing cold and ice. Today the weather was warming up to the 20s. When I left to go to the Reggie Lewis Center it was 7 degrees..moving in the right direction. I was in my car for a good 20 minutes to make sure she warmed up before we started track workouts at 6:34a.m.

I got to the Reggie Lewis Center at 6am. I was one of the firs people there. I was layered up. That is the thing about training in the winter. You have to layer up to protect yourself from the cold. Then you have to try to get dry because you get all hot and sweaty from the workout.

Fuel for Thought: Since it is so cold, I thought I would warm up my gloves before I left for my trackworkout. Instead of putting the gloves in the dyer, I was too layer. I would have to walk all the way down to the basement and back up again. My wisdom thought a quick 20mins in the microwave would do the trick. WRONG. a little fire happened and I had to stop the microwave because my gloves were burning. Alas, my new favorite gloves and a little extra crisp and smokey.

Today there were only 3 black people in the running space. 1 man, 2 women( myself included). The women I saw from the week before, I found out was not African-American. She kept talking to me about her country and in her country. I should have asked her “ her country”. She will be turning 45 like me this year. She is running the Boston Marathon. She is doing it for charity and has to raise $10,000. Currently she is at $4000. Her name is Phllys, I think. I will make sure to run in her group next week.

Today we ran at an 8 mile pace. we did

This was the second week of team Red in which I was ahead of the pack. Next week, I’m moving to a new color
