Running alone?

Running alone?

I wanted to start of Monday with a 10k a.m run. Normally this would not happen because I teach class. Since we have a guest speaker today in class, I can be a bit relaxed and go for a run. I wanted to test out my knee before running 13.1 miles next Sunday.

While running today two interesting things happen. 1. I didn’t run alone. It’s 5 something a.m. and I felt someone running behind me. To be honest, I saw the shadow behind me. This man felt the need to run up next to me before passing me by. That was not ok. My morning running space has been compromised by the new population of new renters in the neighborhood. I’m not sure why this young, white , male runner thought it was alright to run up so close to this black woman running with a headlight at 5 something a.m.

That is the other thing. I had on my headlight and reflective gear, homeboy had on nothing. No light, nothing reflective.

2. There are ghost and other things in the dark shadows of the October morning, watching me. The eyes all saw me run over 6 miles this morning, which is the longest distance i’ve run in the past several weeks. Monday started on an interesting 10k note.
