Franklin Park Friday

Franklin Park Friday

COVID-19, The RONA Era

AHH!!! This Rona. I’m so annoyed. Not being able to run yesterday really frustrated me. Having five zoom meetings and not running yesterday morning made it worst. Yesterday 4.16.2020 marks the 13th anniversary of the Virginia Tech shooting were 32 people lost their lives. Yesterday was the run 3.2 for 32. I put on my run for 32 shirt and my other running gear- no problem. I was stretching and getting the body warmed up when it happen. I did a move and something went wrong in my hip. Of course it is on the left side. I tried to bend down to tie my shoes and that was not happening. I started rotating my hips but something got pulled or pitched, not sure what. I did some squats, more rotations but I could not bend down to tie my shoe still. This was a struggle. Since everything is connected, I couldn’t locate that one spot. I took it as a loss. I took two aleve and iced.

This morning, I had to run. I tried running in the house and it still was a no go. My knees are great but that left hip, not so much. Even sleeping last night was a challenge because of the pain. I still struggled to tie my shoes. Today I was determine to at least walk. I wanted to keep my new themed Franklin Park Fridays going.

I drove to Franklin Park. I realized that sitting in the car was a challenge with this hip thing. When I was there, everyone had a mask or face covered expect for two african-american men that I saw. I started walking. I knew I could walk 3 miles. The ladies that walked smiled and wave. I could tell they smiled through their mask. There were a couple of people running.

Fuel for thought: The people running in Franklin Park this morning were white. I did see two african-american women running and one latinx female. She smiled and waved as well. The majority of the runners were white.

The weather looked like it was going to be a warm day with the clear blue sky. It will later on. This morning it was 32 degrees and windy. I had on gloves, hat, and a heavy jacket. Everyone was covered up to deal with the cold air. It was sunny. I made sure to put my sunglasses on the top of my head, so I could see people and they could see me.

It wasn’t just the people. I wanted to see all the turkeys and geese that were out as well. Nature is calling and nature is open. At least today the animals stayed 6 ft away.

I did try to run a bit, my knee was great, I felt something in my behind on the left side. I really think I might have pulled something. I know there is some muscle connected to the the hip and gluts.

Three miles done! I’m hoping that this will heal over the weekend and I can run next week.
