Surgery Day: The last a.m. run

Surgery Day: The last a.m. run

COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

This morning is my surgery day. Today we are getting the cancer out of my breast via a lumpectomy also known as a partial mastectomy. I know that I won’t be able to run for a couple of weeks after surgery. Today was a long time coming. From finding out the day after Thanksgiving about stage zero breast cancer, to taking with the team of doctors( my cancer breast team), and then figuring out what might be the best course of action to take for me, was a lot. To add to the fun and delay was the holidays of Christmas, new years, snow, COVID, etc…. Overall it has been about 2 1/2 months, which is the about the norm from learning about breast cancer to surgery. If I had stage 3 or 4, action would be taken immediately. Stage zero gave me time to process and get information. All of it is overwhelming, while still continuing daily functions.

Feb. 18th is the official Black Tittie Thursday day. 11:30 a.m. is when it all goes down. I have no idea, how I will feel or what my breast will look like. The main goal, is to get the cancer, about 6 centimeters out of my breast.

I ran a 5k this morning and walked a mile. It was early and quiet for a thoughtful run.
