Environmental Racism and 4 miler for Track Tuesday

Environmental Racism and 4 miler for Track Tuesday

COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

Track Tuesday and I’m not feeling it. I should run but I’m not feeling it. I’m just going to wait until my mood of motivation change. Around 5:55a.m it did. My body is trained to get up at 4:45a.m. if I like it or not. This morning I didn’t like it.

My compromise to myself was to walk a mile. I had to go to the post office to mail a letter. My thought: Save gas, don’t be lazy, and just walk to the post office. That was my plan. The first mile I walked to the post office and to central square in my neighborhood. While at Central Square, I saw an air pollution display. This display with the words AIRE and flowers/plants in the wording, had information about air pollution, environmental racism, the impact of air pollution on our community. I thought this was the coolest thing.

That was my extra motivation and I decided to run to the track and do Tuesday’s trackworkout. Two miles on the track and a mile to run home.

I started off the morning not in the mood and I got a mile walk, 3 mile run in, and I learned more about environmental racism in my neighborhood.

47:52, 4:01 miles; 11:56 min/mile.
