Running over the Ohio for Friday

Running over the Ohio for Friday

COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

The last 72 hours has been an adventure. The Iowan and I drove over 900 miles from Boston to Jeffersonville, Indiana for his nephews wedding. We left Boston around 4:30 on Wednesday and got to Jeffersonville by 11:01pm Thursday night. I’m glad I got in the 10k on Wednesday. Thursday was my rest day. So today, Friday was a running day. I’ve been to Louisville, Kentucky a couple of times. Where we are staying is right over the Ohio river with Kentucky on the other side. I remember from my last visit. This morning, I was on a find the bridge to Kentucky mission.

This black woman runner found it. She ran across the Ohio river to get to Kentucky, said no black woman ever! :). Today was the first time this spring that I ran in shorts. whoo- whoo.

I was happy to see the Ohio river and run over her. While in downtown Louisville, I ran along the Ohio and then looped back to run over the bridge.

There was a bit of caution getting to the bridge. I ran in an unfamiliar neighborhood. It has been a while since that has happened. In the neighborhood I saw many Trump signs and flags still up. As a black woman running, I was extra observant with my surroundings. I’m pretty sure black woman do not run in this neighborhood. I had to run through the neighborhood to get to the bridge.

To my surprise I ran 10k with a couple of miles under 10 minutes. 6.02 miles in 1:00:58 ; 10:08ml/min.

A bit of the unknown makes you go faster some times
