Parking made me run a 5k in my hood

COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”

Today I’m running in my neighborhood. Actually my neighborhood parking situation dictated that I would run in my hood. Normally, Thursday mornings I’m leaving the Iowan to go run someplace. When I return to my neighborhood , I have to hunt for parking because it can be a street parking mess. On my street, Thursday is street cleaning day. On one side of the street, street cleaning is on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. The other side it is the 2nd and 4th. Depending on the Thursday, you will see all the cars packed tightly on the side of the street that is not getting clean.

Most people claim their spots on Wednesday night to which side they want. Sometimes, you can find parking on the streets with a Friday street cleaning sign with parking still available. It’s a whole production.

This morning when I left my house, I realized it was Thursday and I was parked on the side of the street that wasn’t getting cleaned. It would be crazy to move my car because I probably won’t find a spot.

I ran a 5k in my hood knowing I had secure parking. I ran into my stalkers and bad big jokes while in my hood. I wouldn’t have had that pleasant surprise if I didn’t run in my hood today
