COVID-19, “The Rona Era’

April showers bring May flowers. Today it feels like spring. I’m slowly get back into daily running after a two week break from the Boston Marathon. I thought I would let my body and legs rest a bit. Running 26.2 miles does take a lot out of you. :0).

Today is the nicest day of the week. It’s not raining and it’s sunny and cool. I took myself to Mystic River Reservation to run. It’s been a while. I knew if I wanted to do 3 miles, 5 miles, or 6 miles, I knew the routes to make any mile choice happen. Before 6 a.m. it was already 50 degrees. I realized that today was May 5th- 5/5. My goal was 5 miles. I should keep a 5 theme going.

I didn’t do a full stretch this morning. I was a bit stiff when I ran. My pace and body felt slow. I felt like I was jogging rather than running. I was still moving and I was going to take that as wind.

Usually the first couple of miles are slow anyway. I kept moving without problems. I probably should have eaten before I ran because I was hungry and I felt low on energy.

I was steady. I could feel my body picking up the pace a bit.

Since it was bright and nice out, everybody and their momma was out. This is when I become a running snob. Usually the mornings are quiet. Especially when it is cold, no one is out. I’m always out. My quiet running mornings saw a lot of people running and dog walking.

I slowly started to pick up my pace and get into a groove. While moving and grooving I was enjoying the sun, the rowers in the water, and the geese and ducks doing their usual stalker thing.

I completed 5.50 miles. Tomorrow will be a 10k. Increasing and getting better each day
