Urban Spring Running

Urban Spring Running

COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

Today would normally be a 10k a.m. humpday run. Somehow this Wednesday morning is busy. I have to pick up the Iowan and take him to the hospital for a routine procedure this morning. I want to make sure to get a run in and be able to drop off donuts to a friend of mine because her week( two days in) has been crazy. All of these things have to happen before 9:30 a.m.

I have to be up and out of the house by 5:20a.m. if I want to get a 10k run in. Of course that didn’t happen this morning. I got up and slowly went into my stretching routine before leaving the house. I slept in my running attire last night to make sure the morning process of getting ready would be sped up.

I drove down to the South End for my run. I thought the flowers would be out and it has been a while since I ran down there.

To my joy there were Tulips everywhere. In the South End and Boston Commons. It felt like spring was “ really here”, no the cold ass wind and chill we have been getting for the last couple of days.

I ran through the South End, Chinatown, and then the Commons and Public Gardens. I loved that hardly anyone was out and it was light around 5:45a.m.

It me a couple of miles to get my body warmed up before I started to have a steady groove and pace. I kept taking pictures of the flowers and the gardens.- While Running

Boston, is a beautiful city, racial and neighborhood resources aside. I saw the location of the new monument that will be erected “ The Embrace” which are the hands of Dr. and Mrs. Martin Luther King, JR.

I felt good this morning and loved the beauty of the city and nature that surrounded me as I was running.

A fun moment…seeing ducks ass in the air. Yes, they were waving them around as if they don’t care.

By the time I made it back to my car, I had run 5 miles. My Strava had 4.60 miles. At a picture pause break, I forgot to resume my tracking. I could have easily made it a 10k run. But time and all the things I needed to do before 9:30a.m. were not on my side.

Glad I got the miles and a taste of spring in.
