COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

It’s suppose to rain today. The rain stayed away for the race but the “muggy” didn’t get the memo. I was not prepared for this morning. I took the Iowan to the ER at 2:45a.m. this morning. He’s fine. By 6a.m. I had to leave because I had 17 bibs and shirts for our BGR crew. I needed to find a way to drop them off. I knew he was in good hands. He wanted me to go because there was nothing I could do for the next couple of hours.

By 7a.m. I was at the Boston Commons to help set up the BGR tent and drop off bibs, shirts, and extra snacks I got. My amazing co-ambassador, took me to a “ go go gadget secret parking spot” . I was told not to ask questions and just drive as she got into my car.

We made our Boston Women 10k rounds to see the different tents and vendors. REI had a runway and a glitter bar which was amazing! I might have over glittered myself. The major highlight of the morning was running with Liz and Katonya for 6.1 miles. I was tired , not properly fueled or hydrated. And it was muggy. Liz and Katonya, stayed with me, motivated me, and kept me going. The love of friends and sisterhood is something that is so special and wonderful.

Not at my best, my time was 1:06:50 at at 10:46pace. I’m shocked and so happy with that.

Also, the other highlight was getting bib#50. To celebrate finishing 50 states, the organizers gave me the special bib#50 to run this race. I was surprised and touched.

After crossing the finish line, we had some more glitter, shenanigans, and runway fun. While all of this was happening, I was still texting and communicating with the Iowan.

Oh life. Running joy.
