Pond morning run
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
Sunday was rest and recovery from the Boston 10k for women on Saturday. Monday, Indigenous People’s day I did strength training. Today, Tuesday, I run. As we move through October, the sun is coming out later and later. Basically, it’s morning running in the dark time. And it’s just getting started.
Since I stayed with the Iowan last night, I had to run around the Pond. I didn’t have my reflective vest but I had all of his headlights at my disposal. I grabbed two before I left at 5:45a.m. Of course around the pond with little light, in the woods it was dark. Real dark.
To my surprise and joy, I saw a group of runners with their reflective lights on getting ready to run. I knew that I would not be the only runner, running in the dark.
A ran into darkness and into the light. Even walkers had flashlights with them when they walked. I ran around the pond twice for 4 miles. I was later told by my running coach/co-ambassador for Black Girls Run that I had two 7 milers and a 10 miler to run this week.
The BAA half marathon is four weeks away and I have to get ready. I’ll make up the mileage later.
It was nice to see the lights and sunrise around the pond. It was joyful and quiet. I could just take in all of my surroundings.
