From dark to light: Pond Running

From dark to light: Pond Running

COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”

I have to keep reminding myself that I am running a half marathon in November. More weekly miles on the pavement is needed. This morning I ran 5 miles around Horn Pond. There are some inclines and it can be a bit challenging in parts. Running the 5 miles, I felt out of “ running” shape. I got tired. I know it’s the fuel and I need to better hydrate and eat. I know this, I know this, I know this. It’s a matter of when am I going to do it.

I have to remember this feeling because I do not like it. I felt heavy and slow. This may also be because of the post period feelings and it is humid out. When I started at 5:45a.m. it was dark. The only walkers/runners I saw were those folks that had flash lights and reflective gear. It’s dark in the woods around the pound. I appreciate seeing the light. I had on my headlight as well. I still had to be careful to look around and down. Tripping and falling are not an option.

I must be doing something right. My garmin said I ran 5.01 miles in 48:25. I had a 9:39 pace. Is that correct? I felt like I was going slower than my normal. Maybe the track workouts and strength training help with the lack of running more miles. We’ll see.

I was proud of myself this morning. I did a thing around the pond with more miles.
