10 miler Sunday

10 miler Sunday

COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

Plot twist: Freeing cold. Starting on Friday, Boston got a 36 hour deep freeze. By Saturday morning we were in the negatives. It was -7 at 8a.m. on Saturday. So no one in their right mind is running. At least this girl is not running. The temperature varied from -7 to -5, to 3 degrees and back to negative. We got a blast of artic cold. On Saturday was the start of the RUN SHOW at the Hynnes Convention Center. My plan was to go and support the panel on running and community because my peoples from Black Men Run, Trailblazhers, and Suzanne and Adrienne from the BAA were going to be on the panel. I would be around runners and lots of running stuff.

I parked three blocks from the Convention center and let me tell you, my face froze. I had a face headache because it was just that cold.

Fast forward to Sunday. I decide to register to run with TrackSmith running club on Sunday. My girl Katonya runs with them because Sundays are the only time she can do long runs. She told me they had snacks, pacers, and you can get a massage after the run. I thought I would give it a try.

I had to work through my issues because 1. They start at 9a.m. which is so late for me. 2. It’s a Sunday 3. There were so many people running. 4. Folks ran and also were talking around me. I couldn’t run fast enough nor could I turn my volume up louder because I was not trying to destroy my ear drums. 5. The negative 7 degrees of Saturday was now 48 degrees. I was over dressed.

Anyway, I ran, I ran 10 miles. Having pacers and being apart of a run group did help, I will admit. I cold also so the progress and process of my training. It’s coming. By I was feeling knee pain on my left knee. At the run show, I did get some KT tape and I tested it out on this run.

I had to peel off layers. I was proud that I fueled up properly the night before and morning of. I appreciate many of my BGR sole sistas were out there running with me too. That was another layer of motivation that I needed.

10.02 miles, 10:51/mile pace; 1 hour and 48 mins
