Foggy- All season Pond Running

Foggy- All season Pond Running

ERA of WTF………………………joy and resistance

I have to keep reminding myself: TOF — Time on Feet.

If I’m going to be ready for the true half marathon (13.1), I need more mileage on my feet. My goal is to get to 25–30 miles a week to prepare for race day.

Since I stayed in Woburn, I decided to run around Horn Pond this morning. It was dark and foggy—honestly, it almost felt like fall. But the kind of fall that feels a little eerie. As I ran around the pond, I could feel pockets of warm air and cold air. Because the weather has been warming up, the path was very slushy. I had to stay alert so I didn’t slip, or trip over a rock or branch along the wooded parts of the trail.

My goal this morning was 4 to 5 miles, which meant running around the pond twice. I need to get my legs and body used to longer distances again.

The plan: run the first mile steady, then start interval running. With what I know about my knees, that approach tends to work well for me. When I pace it that way, I usually end up finishing the run feeling strong and healthy.
