Tuesday Track is Back! We are Outside Now

Tuesday Track is Back! We are Outside Now

Era of WTF…………………resistance and joy

Today marks the first day of outdoor Track Tuesday. The week of the Boston Marathon back in April was our last indoor session at the Reggie, and now we're kicking off the season that coincides with Chicago Marathon training.

We started things off at the MIT track today. Coach Dan kept it simple — which I appreciated, because track math is a challenge for me. Especially outdoor track math, which is a whole different beast from indoor. The workout was 8–10 x 400s at 10K pace with a 90-second rest in between. My translation: run one lap around the track, take a break, and repeat. Simple enough. (For reference, indoor track is 200 meters per lap, so one loop indoors equals half a loop outdoors — now you know why the math trips me up.)

It felt like the first day back at school, seeing all the old and familiar faces. Lots of hugs and smiles reuniting with the PACER crew. Memorial Day weekend fell early this year and the weather wasn't exactly welcoming — cold and rainy — so that may have kept some folks away. But the ones who showed up showed out.

My legs and knees felt great, and the weather on the day was just right. Overall, a solid start to the summer outdoor track season. Here we go!
