Summer Thursday around the Pond

Summer Thursday around the Pond

ERA of WTF... Joy and Resistance

This is the first full week of summer, and I'm getting back into my morning summer running routine. Since my next half marathon isn't until the fall, my goal is to log 15–25 miles each week. I think that's a solid baseline to maintain my fitness.

Here's the plan for the week:

  • Monday: Strength training (no running)

  • Tuesday: Track Tuesday

  • Wednesday: Strength training

  • Thursday: 5K run

  • Friday: 5K run

  • Saturday: 5K run

Today, I ran around Horn Pond. It was 61 degrees when I started, and I loved it. The shade from the trees kept the temperature cool and comfortable. Heading out at 6:00 a.m. was the perfect choice.

I'm also giving myself a little grace. Once fall arrives, I'll be back to my 5:00–5:30 a.m. wake-up routine. For now, it was nice to "sleep in."

I did interval training around the pond, and it felt great to get back into a consistent weekly running routine. People were already out walking, running, and fishing, enjoying the peaceful morning. Normally, I run around the pond twice, but today was about easing back into the rhythm.

It was a perfect morning for a run around the pond, and I finished feeling strong, refreshed, and ready to build on the week ahead.
