Painted Sky for Track Tuesday

Painted Sky for Track Tuesday

ERA of……WTF………joy and resistance

After running 8 miles on Monday for the Birthday Diva Run, I was pacing for Track Tuesday today. This girl... these legs are tired. Tomorrow will be a rest day for sure. I'm tired. But this morning, seeing the gorgeous colors of the sky and feeling the coolness of the morning made it all okay.

Today we had a special guest: Coach Bennett, Nike's global head running coach. He's on a book tour promoting his new book — which is all about running. And also not all about running at all.

This was my first time meeting him, and I loved his spirit and energy. He ran with us, and I even got to talk to him about my own book. He's funny, motivational, and kind — not a "crazy coach" type at all. It was such a treat running with him, and he was out there with Team Red.

I really appreciated today's track workout: two ten-minute tempo runs with a two-minute break in between, then 4x400s alternating between 10K and 5K pace. I didn't have to worry about timing since all the groups started and ended together, with Coach Dan keeping time.

Unfortunately, my watch was acting up, so I couldn't gauge my pace — I just had to feel the comfort of my body instead. The goal wasn't to push to exhaustion. In that time, I think I ran about 2 miles, and I was able to hold my pace without relying on intervals. I felt really strong on this run this morning
