Bursting with color and sweat
I over slept this morning. Ha! Over sleeping on a Sunday, I know. The plan was a long 10 mile a.m. before state #40. The plan and alarm was set for 4:45a.m. The plan was to get up early have a long relaxing run, breakfast, and then go off to church. Ohh we love the plans. That did not happen. I guess I turned off the alarm and didn’t hit snooze. Almost two hours later I looked at my clock and it was 6 something.
Do I jut turn over and ignore or do I get up. Do I just run tomorrow because there is always tomorrow. Do I blame my period and red wine and cake of last night? NO, NO, NO. I have to get my ass up!
I did. The good thing, no headlight was needed because it was bright. I knew it would be cold( I didn’t know how cold) but I layered up and went out the door. Despite the cold it was super bright out. It gave the illusion of being a super warm day…blue sky, bright sun, tons of warmth. Again and illusion.
I ran. I knew I couldn’t run 10 miles because I didn’t want to be late for church but I did manage a lovely 7.10 mile run with beach views, fall foliage, the T, urban art and greenspaces.
I did enjoy the moment of having the open space to my self. To my surprise( being relaxed and taking running days off) my pace was extremely good. At one point I was running 9.18 min/mile. Clearly I had to slow that down.
I felt good and ready for #40. Tomorrow is the recognized Veteran’s Day. I’ll make sure to do 11.12 miles
