Saturday 6 miles...after a Friday night

On my marathon training plan, I should run 4 miles on Saturday and 20 on Sunday. I did not follow the plan. I ran 6.06 miles. What happened was……………….

Last night, Friday, a friend of mine, who I haven’t seen forever wanted me to come over for dinner and drinks and to catch up. We planned this weeks ago. She was super awesome and wanted to know what foods I can eat because of marathon training. My plan was to visit for a couple of hours and then go home to rest and be ready for Saturday. When I saw M, it was great. She busted out the Champagne and the Waterford Crystal champagne glasses. And that’s how it started. I think we might have finished 3 bottles before dinner.

We kept on talking, eating, drinking, and catching up. It was great. At some point we might have had another bottle or two. Not sure. After 6 hours or so, I crawled upstairs to pass out in her guest bedroom…. Responsible adults, yes.

My body work me up at 4:45am( normal wake up time). I couldn’t and wouldn’t do. I went back to sleep and around 6a.m., my body wanted me to get up because this was “ late”.

Since everyone in the house was still asleep, I wanted to make sure to leave quietly. I left, went home, changed, and drove to Cambridge to run 4 miles. The route I took, I had to run 6 in order to get back to my car. I know, I make no sense.

While running on the Charles, everybody was out running. Hardcore. I ran into 4 different groups of group runners. At one point, I passed the BU track team. Talk about the odd feeling of white men running towards me. It was a busy running morning. .
