Earth Day..10k a.m. humpday

COVID-19 “The Rona” Era

10k a.m. humpday and it’s sunny, cold, and windy AF. I didn’t know I was going to do wind resistance training this morning.  Today was a must run day because I didn’t run yesterday. Yesterday I was caught in the grocery store, work, and then the rain came a pouring. This reminds me of why getting morning runs in are so important. My grocery store outing was early in the morning. Oh I have to prioritize it all.

This morning was my Earth Day run. I tried to hit all the elements of sun, wind, water, air, dirt, and plants on the run. It was a quiet chill in the air while running. While running I saw two, which looked like latinx folks running. One male and one female. This made me smile because I don’t see latinx folks in the spaces that I run. It was nice to see some brown faces.

Fuel for thought: I thought about everyone talking about the new normal, which I hate. I want us( society) to talk about the creation of a just society, an equitable society, what would that look like? How could we get there?

As I ran,  I did some people walking to the T to go to work. I just saw a couple compared to when I would be out on my morning runs and there would be so many people between 5:30-6:30 a.m. going to the T. That has changed.

When I ran also Beach Ave and through Constitutional Beach, I saw the airport. There were hardly any planes on the runway. Normally I could hear them and see them. I did not see a one.

I was sadden for a bit because I would have been on one of those planes flying to Seattle, Washington right now. I would be seeing my wonderful college friend E and her family for a couple of days before driving to Eugene Oregon to run in my 47th state. This would have been my birthday race, the first race of the 2020 final four season.  Today this all hit me while running. This is my loss for me. This is my mourning.

I was in my thoughts as I continued to run.  At some point, it got warm and oddly windier as well.
