Lite Drizzle 10k a.m. humpday

COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

It’s raining. It rained really hard yesterday which cancelled Track Tuesday. Today, 10k a.m. humpday, it’s raining again. I don’t run in rain. I couldn’t tell from my window if it was a lite drizzle or a steady rain. Yesterday, I did 30 minutes of a body shred workout with Chole Ting to replace my run. I would have done it today again if I didn’t run.

Do I or don’t I run, that is the question. After much debate, I went out to run. I drove to Castle Island to run today. Of course as I started driving, the little drizzle became a hard rain. My conversation to myself was to run 1 mile in the rain and then go home.

I think I was so go-ho about running because yesterday I wasn’t productive. I was moving on the speeds of slow and stop. I went to meetings, graded papers, answered emails…but the normal motivation that I have was not there.

I wanted to be motivated today, running tends to do that for me. When I got to Castle Island, the rain had slowed down a bit. I saw people running in the rain. Actually 10 people running in the rain. I thought to myself, that’s what white runners do. Then again, I’m out here running too.

It was foggy, lite drizzle morning run. To my surprise, I saw people walking their dogs and just walking. There were two black woman walking in the rain and one black woman walking her dog. At this point the rain had stopped. But I know they were out walking before the rain had stopped.

One mile soon became a 5k. Then four miles ended up as a 10k. With the crappy weather there were not a lot of cars out. I had a steady run in the rain.

6.12miles; 1:03:43; 10:25min/mile.
