Sunday Long Run

Sunday Long Run

COVID-19 “The Rona Era”

The heat wave is coming. Of course the day that I take off to rest, Saturday, was cool and pleasant for a.m. running. This morning the humidity and heat came. The rest of this week will be in the high 80s and low 90s. The heat is going to stay for a while. Morning runs will be a challenge.

Today I wanted to run 10 miles. The last I ran ten miles was in April of this year. I thought today is the day to start upping my daily run mileage.

Leaving my house at 5:40 a.m it was 72 degrees and muggy as all get out. I’m determine to do 10 miles and just take my time. Interesting to note, I found myself stopping a couple of times to walk( count to 30) before starting back up to run.

There was no one around this morning which was good. The “largest” amount of people I saw this morning were walking to the T. I passed three different Blue Line T stops on my route.

When I reached to Revere Beach( 4 miles from my house) I decided to turn around and heads towards home, which would be a total of 8 miles instead of 10. It was getting muggier and I didn’t have the stamina that I should.

Running back towards home I saw a female cyclist. I can’t recall the last time I saw that. She smiles and greeted me with a hi and acknowledgement as she zipped by me. That was the first sign of female empowerment this morning. The other was seeing a Latinx woman running. I made sure to smile and acknowledge her for doing the thing.

Those were the only people I saw out until I reached Bremen Street Park and saw people walking and running.

I think my app my be wrong. When I finished I ran 7.58 miles. I could have run the extra .42 miles for a total of 8 but I was at my door, hot, bothered, and thirsty. I was all set with that. Keeping it Sunday real.
