Monday Grind

Monday Grind

COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

The struggle is so real. For two weeks, I decompressed from the Fall 2020 semester. Now, it’s Monday, Jan. 4th 2021 and it’s time to get back on it and prep for spring semester 2021. I have to get my mind and body right to get working for the week. Today, getting out of bed was a push the alarm three times morning. I know, once I’m laced up, the world is a better place. I had to get to that mindset first. By 6:04 a.m. I was out the door.

I wasn’t in the mood to drive and run, so I ran in my neighborhood. The 35 degree weather wasn’t offensive and I didn’t need multiple layers of clothes on to run. Headlight, jacket, and coldweather running shirt.

I planned on running a 5k for Monday. As I thought about it, I needed to challenge myself and a 5k wasn’t going to do it. I decided that I would run 5 miles on Monday. My Monday 5. Last year, near the end of the year I wanted to have a 4 mile baseline when I ran. This year I should up the mileage. Hopefully by fall, I’ll be able to run in at least one state. We’ll see. Having 5 miles on Monday is a way to start increasing my mileage, strength, and badassness.

5.20 miles, 55:36 , 10:41min/mil
