Phrase II of RTW training

Phrase II of RTW training

COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

Today starts Phrase II of Road to Wellness 5k free training clinic. This phrase is all about Endurance. Last week was fourth of July weekend so we did not meet. This week it has been rainy, rainy, and rainy. Yesterday tropical storm Elsa graced us with her presence. Probably around 7pm, she went away. This morning, no Elsa just mugginess.

I was excited to see everyone. Plus today marks six weeks. I have the ok to run after six weeks of not running post reconstruction surgery. But yet, I have this groin pain issue. When I went to my doctor’s office on Wednesday, she ruled out a yeast infection, UTI, and hernia. She recommended going to a pelvic physical therapist. I didn’t know such a thing existed. There is so much stuff that is connected down there, who knows what it is. Since surgery that has been an issue.

Oh of course when I’m ready to run I have to deal with this.

At the RTW 5k training, we did several stretches and I was mindful to work on the groin area for the stretches. I think they may have helped a bit. After the exercises we got into our groups.

This would be the first time with me running. I decided to go with the runners and just feel out my body.

At first we started slow and I felt fine. As we started to pick up the pace, I could feel that annoyance. We ran for 25 minutes, running around the lake five times. Coach Y, guided us through pacing and pulling back a bit. I was able to run for those 25 minutes but I could feel the annoyance. I would feel better if that wasn’t there.

Aside from that, it was good to run. I made sure to start off slow to feel my body. She held up pretty well. Even if I didn’t have that annoyance, I don’t think I could have run any faster but this was not about speed.

I finished the 25 minute run, without stopping and was cheered on to the finish line. My boob was fine, nothing rubbed against it. Yay! I made sure to do some more stretching. One of the coaches told me there were some exercises on the RTW website that I should follow that may help.

At this point, I’ll try anything.

Today was a good back to running day!
