Monday's 5 miles - Week 1

Monday's 5 miles - Week 1

COVID- 19, “The Rona Era”

Well, it’s time to start training. It’s time to get serious about the next 20 weeks to get ready for this hilly ass marathon that I picked. Instead of my regular 5k run, I have to step it up and make 5 miles my baseline. Clearly I forgot what 5 miles feels like.

I made it to the Mystic River Reservation at Assembly row by 5:45a.m. The REI winter weather workshop that we(BGR) had with them helped me with my clothing layering. It was 27 degrees out. I had on a base layer and a top layer, headlight, and mittens. Look at me.

To start off the training season, I ran towards Everett instead of Somerville, Charlestown, or Medford. I wasn’t sure how long it would take, but I was beating on finishing 5 miles this morning.

Running along the main street in Everett it was busy. Lots of cars and visibility. I ran 5 miles at a 11:06pace in 55mins, 37 secs.
