COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

Yesterday, Spring came to visit. Today she left and winter resumed his daily activities. The wind was strong and it was 27 chill degrees out. I wasn’t motivated to get up and get moving. I was up at 4:45a.m. but I didn’t feel like running. If I am going to run a marathon, I need to put the miles in on the legs. I slowly worked my way to stretching and finding layered clothes to wear.

I decided to make my way to Castle Island. Last week when I was there, my cell phone was not working. I didn’t have music and I didn’t know how many miles I put on the pavement. Knowing my body, I thought I did 7 miles but I wasn’t sure. Then I found out that I forgot to pay my phone bill. Ooops.

This morning is a redeeming run to make up for the non bill paying phone malfunction. Just as before, I parked in the Seaport area by the Lawn on D street. When I got my stuff together to run, after I parked it was 6:10a.m. Way later than I wanted but I couldn’t move or motivate myself any faster.

I ran from the Lawn on D towards Castle Island. Once I made that loop I continued to M street beach and then Carson Beach before turning around. The more I ran the warmer I felt. It was good to have music, check my miles, and see the sun-rising. No surprise, seeing all the runners and walkers that were out around the island.

I was running slow and steady because of my knee. I even brought some snacks to keep my energy going. I finished 8 miles in 1:27:43 with at 10:56 mile pace. Normally my running time would have been shorter. I’m hoping with acupuncture and rest, I can resume my normal pace- 10:30.
