Run Club with Boston 10k for Women
Era of WTF…stay healthy and stay ready
Should I have run today? That is the question. But my hot assets ran this Saturday. Thursday was the Mob Mile and afterparty. I ran a mile in 9:04mins, then I was a dancing, shaking, bouncing around diva for three hours. Yup, doing all that on my worn cartilage and degenerating mendacious. The Aleve and Tylenol I took to get ready for the Mob Mile still was kicking in. Shout out to Science. I go to bed at midnight and I was up by 5 a.m. Friday morning to go to strength training class. Yes, I know. I should have canceled. Should have, could have, would have. I didn’t.
My class at the Y is in high demand. Even if I canceled by 5a.m. that would have been too late for someone to get a spot. I tiredly went. I knew to do less weights, work on form, and go easy on myself with those damn squats. Friday was just a long drag out day. Getting 5 hours of sleep is not for me.
The strategy to get ready for Run Club for Boston 10k for Women was to try to rest my legs on Friday. And of course take anti- inflammatory on Saturday morning. All I knew, is that as a Ambassador for the Boston 10k- which means we are leading the group runs, we were running for 45 mins.
It was about the time, not about the distance. The route they had was 5.2 miles. I know I would not run 5.2 miles in 45 minutes. Even when I was in my best shape and without knee issues I could run it in 50, maybe 48 minutes. Those days are gone.
I met up with my co-ambassador for BGR Boston Kattonya. This was her first time and my second. time there. We are just now in week 3 of training, so it’s not too bad.
Sarah, one of the other ambassors’s who is leading the charge showed up the route and we divided up, who will be pacing. I said I would pace about a 12:30 to 12:50. To be honest, I don’t know what that means. It just sounds good.
I know how to pace for heartbreakers running club because there is a sheet of miles and times, plus we are on a track. This was outdoor running. I knew I had to go slower than normal, but what does that look like.
Ahead of me, there was a 9:30 min pacer, 11:10, me, 13 min pacer. If I planned. I would have thought about minutes and miles- for Pacing . But that did not happen.
I knew I had to stay running, be a pacer, and deal with this hot ass weather. Run club starts at 8a.m. Which is so late to me. It’s not about me and I’m sure I needed the extra rest.
The route made since to me . I told my ladies we would go out for 22.5 minutes and then turn around. It was about feeling how your body feels after 45 minutes of running.
My watch has me at 11:19 mile pace, 11:32 mile, and at one point 11:12 mile pace. I have to seriously slow it down. I kept checking in with the ladies and they stayed with me. They seem to be doing good. Perhaps my pacer truth in 11:30. I’ll work on it next week.
We had a good time, it was a good vibe. My knees are feeling ok I we got 4 miles in. Yeah us
