Saturday's 4 miler with Run Club

ERA of WTF, Joy and Strategy.

One more week until the Fall semester starts. There is that and the racist rampage of attacking the Smithsonian museum, the Supreme Court siding with the Trump administration in 5-4 vote to stop over S800 million in NIH grants around DEI, and currently a cultural war outrage over the change of the logo for Crackle Barrel. Things you can not make up. Running is so needed to find joy and keep some sanity.

This week after Track Tuesday, I walked on Wednesday, rested on Thursday, and went to Strength training on Friday. Moving for a the win, but I still need to run. Saturday was Run Club with Boston 10k for women.

I was there, excited to see the ladies come. The participation seemed sparse this morning from runners and ambassadors. I found out we were running 4 miles- cool. I didn’t know the root. Then , it was just me an another ambassador that was leading the run. We both had no idea about the route.

This put me in a spot. I should have went the same route we ran last week but did I ..no. The route I picked was not a 2 miles out and back. Just a mess. All the things that are not planned.

We gathered the ladies, did some stretching and talking about our plan. I was not planning on running/pacing management. I didn’t know everyone’s pace, but someone had to be a lead to lead the route.

Off we went running towards the Boston Shipyard. I knew there would be nice views. I tried to reduce my pace to be in the middle. Just to make noise, I played my Pandora music on my phone.

Everything was good until we came to a bridge and I told the runners in front to go to the bottom of the bridge then turn back. This would give a chance to check in on all the runners who were spread out.

Well, The lead folks just kept on running while waited. There was a young lady who, I never saw. I wasn’t sure if she was lost but then I didn’t know if the runners would know how to get back to our starting point.

Hot mess. Hot mess. The runners all came back. Their watches, beeped at 3 miles. Everyone has a smart phone, they would be fine. They didn’t seem bothered at all.

My Ben Gay, anti-inflammatory self was pacing around a 10:48 minute mile. I got about 3 miles in . The important thing was for the runners to get 4 miles in.

Adjustment, stretching, running and words of support. Not bad.
