Sunday 4 miler
ERA of WTF….joy, resistance, knowledge, and sweat.
I don’t run on Sundays. Sundays are rest days. I felt like I cheated myself a bit for not running 4 miles on Saturday with Boston 10k for Women Run Club. I did run close to three miles but it was hard being the only run lead and managing the group. Today I made up for it. No one to lead a run. Just me, myself and I.
The goal for this morning: run 4 miles. I wasn’t sure where to run the miles. But I saw my co-ambassador was running downtown for her last 8 miles before she is off to Sydney to run the Sydney Marathon. This would be my last chance to see her before she leaves. - We have a plan.
6:30a.m. I was parked across from the Public Gardens downtown. I love the early morning quiet of downtown. My plan was to run 4 miles then find her along her running route, which is on the Boston Marathon course.
I saw the Ducklings. Then headed to the Commons. This is the 250th anniversary of the marine corps. On the Commons, were varies kinds of helicopters and flying vehicles That was a cool surprise.
When the chronic attack on blackness and diverse and complex history of America, because the president wants something simple and a Disney story of democracy. You can’t tell that story without talking about settler displacement slavery, exploitation, and systemic forms of oppression..
I ran by the Robert Gould Shaw Memorial- my favorite memorial, which captures the Massachusetts 54th Regiment and is apart of the Black Freedom trail. I pumped my arms to get up that hill.
My right turn lead me to the Embrace, the newest memorial, which honors the love and humanity of Dr. King and his wife.
I kept going down Boyloston street, which is part of the Boston Marathon route, the last mile. To wrap things up, I ran along the Charles River on the Esplande after running on Mass ave.
This was a good 4 miler. I was feeling strong and energize. I wore my fuel vest, which is something that I am going to have to do in the future.
4.07 miles -46:02, 11:18 average pace.
Once I finished, I found out that Katonya was at Tracksmith on Newbury Street, a street over from Boylston. I could have run there but I would be afraid that I might miss her. My assets, drove there to surprise her- and I did! Outside of Tracksmith, they have a run club that runs every Sunday at 8a.m. I found her in the sea of runners that were waiting to start their run.
Double check! Saw my friend and ran those 4 miles.
