Last Summer run of 2025: Boston 10k for Women

ERA of WTF….joy and resistance

The first day of Fall is Monday, it’s still summer and still summer running season. The last two Saturday’s for the Run Club for the Boston 10k for Women, I’ve been at other races. The inaugural Mattapan 5k and the 11th Road to Wellness 5k. But I’m back now. Today, KB, Hannah, and myself were leading the run for the Run Club for Boston’s 10k for Women. This year is the 49th year of this all women’s race- with some men participating, that is it’s own issue.

How will my knee hold up? Acupuncture was Thursday. Strength training was Friday. I brought this anti- inflammatory rub from the Acupuncturist. Let’s see how I feel this morning. I did add some aleve just to make sure and had some coffee.

40 women signed up for run club today. 15 showed up. We had first timers, returners, older women, and younger women who came to run. On the schedule was 5.21 miles. Not sure about the 5.21miles and why not 5 miles. I did not set the mileage.

After warm up and pictures, we did the run. I was in the middle- around 11ish for pace. From Charlestown through North Point, then along the Charles River for our drive. This section of the city is a running space. You get a sense, that Boston is a running town. Everyone and their momma was running this morning. So many runners. The space feels very white and young along the Charles past MIT.

My running plan. Run a mile then start 3:1 interval running. Run for 3 walk for 1. That really helped. Some of the ladies passed my by. I was able to take pictures and document. I could have been a bit faster. I had to take my pictures and I wanted to not be in pain.

At 57 sunny degrees I ran for 1 hour and completed 5 miles at 12:11 pace. 557 total calories burned. Yay me.

Running the 3 minutes, went by fast and I was in a good rhythm. Since everyone and their momma was running, I saw folks from Track Tuesday. Lots of running.

Finishing 5 miles in an hour reminder me of running Every Women’s Marathon. The goal was 5 miles and hour. I don’t know if I can run 6 miles in an hour anymore. I wonder, with stopping for pics, what the time might be like.

I’ll worry about that later. No limping after running. #winning.
