Last Summer Track Tuesday

Last Summer Track Tuesday

Era of WTF…..joy and resistance

Here we go track Tuesday. This morning driving in it was dark. Like real dark. Real dark and fogging. It felt like a fall morning. It’s still summer damn- it until Sept. 22nd. I brought a jacket just to have on me. I know that is was going to jet warmer later on when we start running. Having the jacket was my security blanket for the morning.

I’m still processing of trying to understand how we have moved to a country of celebrating white supremacy. Things are just amplifying. Today I have a meeting with the President and the Executive Committee of the union. A lot is on my plate. So running with my running crew is a my happy of the day.

As fate would have it, my knee, which was feeling better is not this morning. Ironically after I took the anti-inflammatory pills, my right knee started ache a bit. I put on my knee compression sleeve and hoped things might be better.

The workout today was a bit math tricky. 3x6mins. We run for 6 mins then do - 2mins at marathon pace, 2 mins at tempo pace, 2 mins at 10k pace, 2 mins at 5k pace. No breaks. 36 mins of straight running. This change is pace was hard. Really hard and then my knee situation did not help. I could run for 6mins. Then we did interval running with a mixture of 10k pace. I love an appreciate the red team members. Several of us were injured and had to adjust the running. That was totally fine. The goal was to keep moving . And we did.

It’s bad when I was limping off the field. I ran 3.27 miles in 36:07mins with a 11:14 mile/pace. I’ll take it. The goal is to keep that for another 3 miles as I get ready for the Boston 10k for women.

Still moving and finding my joy.
