Brother/Sister Run in September

ERA of ….WTF…joy and resistance.

Oh child! This has been a week. During track Tuesday, I wasn’t able to Pace team Red because my knee was not being my friend. I made an acupuncture appointment on Thursday. And I’m so glad I did. This was the first full week of classes ( week #2). I was able to see and gauge where my freshman were in their academic minds. And on a happy note by broken window from the construction back ho, finally got fixed. Then on Thursday a popular White Supremacist was murdered and the nation went crazy. From those that talked about his white supremacy and the damage and hate he caused, to others mourning a loss of a great mind. For a person is was worth $14 million preaching in a slick and smooth package bigotry and hate- many folks got sucked in. Then after that situation, there was a school shooting the same day in another part of the country. The social media and inter webs are blowing up. The blame was on the leftist Marxist. The vile comments from the White House and other MAGA politicians were getting posted before a suspect was even caught. Then when he was , he was one of them. Young, white, male, and extreme. Then the narrative changed on social media. The hypocrisy of it all

This is why, I appreciated so much, the brother and sister run today. I was in community with 25 black women and men. We share the joy of running, running together, being in a space together and supporting each other. It’s one of those things, in which everyone understands and gets it. We all find joy in reclaiming space and being in our bodies. To have a physical and mental space with people, especially black folks in these undemocratic times is so valuable.

We ran, celebrated, and shared with each other. While we were sweating in the sun because it was hot. It’s still summer. We were outdoors. Have to enjoy that. We were moving our bodies. It was a good morning.
