Spring is Knocking on Winter’s Door

The weather wasn’t too bad for Track Tuesday—on St. Patty’s Day, no less! I love that I’m on Spring Break this week; no rushing after track, just time to hang out and enjoy the morning.

When I arrived at the Reggie, it was dark and locked. Normally, it opens around 5:45 a.m. I sat on a bench and waited… and waited. One of the regulars tried the door—it was locked. I told him we’d have to hang out for a bit. We ended up talking about our first half marathon, the Run to Remember in Boston. He wasn’t sure if he’d do it this year—torn between the race or a family vacation at the Cape.

We stayed outside as more people arrived. Now it’s 6 a.m. Coach Dan shows up. Are we running outside? Canceling track? Of course, this is the day many of us didn’t fully bundle up, assuming we’d be indoors.

Around 6:07, C came to open the Reggie and apologized profusely. Apparently, the rain and wind on Monday caused power outages for many people. Thankfully, it was warm enough this morning—otherwise, we might have had snow.

Track felt quieter today—maybe 50 people. March is still spring break for many college kids, and people are traveling. You could feel and see the difference.

Our Team Red was small but mighty. This time, we did two 10-minute tempo runs with plenty of room to spread out. It was funny listening to Bad Bunny and other artists—no Irish tunes on St. Patty’s Day!

As always, it was a great day and a happy space.
