Last Winter Run of 2026
ERA of WTF…………………………………..joy and resistance
Last Thursday of Winter—Whippee!
Time to put more miles on my feet. So far, the longest I’ve run this year is a 10K. Today’s training plan called for 8 miles. Easy, right? Not so fast.
The Revere Beach route? Too far. Four loops around Horn Pond? Nope. I settled on the Mystic River to Assembly Row—my “maybe 8 miles” plan. Early morning, sky painted in shades of pink and gold, quiet streets. Perfect start.
Loop one done. Still short. I pushed into East Somerville. The city was waking up: kids heading to school, police directing traffic, construction crews starting the day, people waiting for buses. Lively, human, real. I thought I was close to 8. Nope—not even 7 yet.
Back toward Assembly Row, weaving through the open-air shops. Still not enough. Mystic Trail again. Finally, I hit 7 miles. Frustrating? Yes. But a win—I ran more than 6, more than I’ve done this year.
Next step? Map a smarter 8-mile route.
