Last Track Tuesday of August

Last Track Tuesday of August

ERA of……WTF……..joy and resistance

What is happening to this country? I can't run enough, walk enough, or go to strength training enough to be calm and not lose my mind. So the latest… there's the slaughtering of wild horses. People in Gary, Indiana still don't have power, but the data centers nearby do. The Supreme Court just handed Trump a win around mail-in ballots — interesting that for 250 years we didn't have a problem until now. There's the tariff war with Canada. The American president told the Canadians they can't have bilingual television. The madness of insanity just keeps going.

I have to bitch and vent. But that can't be the whole story. The power of resistance is finding joy and peace. I get that with running, especially Track Tuesday. This is my fun time, my happy time — the time when my strength gets tested and becomes better. What gives me joy is this running community I've found. Even my Team Red group.

We were strong today. So proud of everyone working on their endurance and their marathons. Though, I was annoyed with my late BGR girls. Don't get me wrong, I love to see them. We have a cast of characters who always come late. You never know what we're doing. Then when I tell them, they go off and do their own thing — listening to their music, singing, not hearing instructions. Wanting to take videos and pictures.

I'm all for doing you. But as a Pacer, my job is to the group. I have to stay focused and motivated to motivate others. They can be a distraction. Today I was called mean. Or maybe my soon-to-be just didn't give me any this morning. I can't even — I blocked that out and ran. I was feeling good and strong. Today was a mini Michigan. I felt really strong today and proud of what all the ladies accomplished.
