Sole Sista 10k

Sole Sista 10k

My BGR #girlgang friend sent me a text on Thursday wanting to know where I was running because she wanted to run with me in the a.m. I was shocked and happy that she wanted to run with me. I planned on us meeting at Castle Island at 5:30am today.  She had been sitting for 3 days, in cars, at home, not running. October, she is doing her first half marathon. K, wanted to get her but moving. When she came I suggested we do a 10k run. My goal was to be there for her. It was not about me. I run around a 9:15/9:30 min/mile. She is around a 11:30/11:40min/mile.

Her goal was to run straight through without stops. No problem, I got you girl. We started it running, I thought I was going slow, which I was compared to my normal pace. The 10:40 min/mile was too fast for K. I slowed down, so we can pick up our speed later.

What I learned about myself is that I can slow down and still get miles done. K, didn't take the time to stretch out and her right hip was bothering  her.  I still pushed her. At this pace, I was talking  to her( which I know she hated me). Also, I  was excited to run with someone  in the morning. The morning observations that I make comments on in my head, I was able to say them out loud.

We saw cruise ship, a guy with a weight doing  squats on the beach, saying Hi and good morning to all the people we passed by, seeing the sunrise, saying hi to more people on the beach...it was an adventure.

We finished with 6.08 miles. I've very proud my of gal K. She too got me out of the house and moving as well.
