Summertime Ducks

COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

10k a.m. humpday in a heat wave. I’m not a fan of running in the heat, it but it has to be done. Today, I ran in downtown Boston. I realized it had been a long while since I last ran downtown. It was good to explore to what had changed and what was still the same.

When I started running it was 78 degrees and it later went to 80 degrees. I started running in the South End, it was quiet and I started to feel my strive a bit. I kept doing down Bolyston street to the finish line of the Boston Marathon. I forgot that is still going on but virtually in September.

I continued to run to the Boston Commons and Public Gardens. There I saw the geese, ducks, and squirrels with an attitude. I have an attitude too, I was not mad with the squirrel. When I saw the ducklings with their floaties, I got upset. At least they were going to have some summer fun.

I did not stop as I run the incline in Boston Commons. I was headed to the 54th regiment sculpture , when I remembered they are doing renovations on it. It was blocked. I loved running down the commons and seeing a banner that told their story. Even though I couldn’t see the sculpture, their story was still being seen and told.

The theme of today: perseverance, vigilance, pleasure, and pain. My endurance needs work. I was hot, thirsty, and low energy. My legs held strong and I did not run in pain. 4.13 miles of accomplishment along the roaster coaster ride of running emotions.
