The Unicorn is out

The Unicorn is out

COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”

Boston Marathon weekend is here. The unicorn is out, the finish line has been refreshed, the runners are in the city. This morning I planned to run to Revere Beach and back. I realized that this morning would be the perfect time to run downtown while it was still quiet. I knew at this hour(5:30a.m.), I would have the streets to myself.

I drove downtown and parked in the South End. When I started running it was 70 degrees. I don’t do well in warm weather. Besides being in South Carolina, this was the second time that I had shorts on. That was very exciting.

I ran through the south end, Chinatown, and through the public gardens. I thought the ducklings would be in Boston Marathon appeal. They still had on their Easter bouquets. I was a bit disappointed.

After running through the public garden, I made my way to Bolyston Street. At that point the sun was slowly coming up. The street was quiet. From a distance I was the scaffolding. As I ran close to the Boston Public Library, I saw all the tents, and Boston Marathon unicorn. The police was monitoring traffic and the people talking selfies of the finish line.

I kept on running until I made a right turn on Mass Ave. I ran over the bridge to Cambridge were the rowers were rowing. It was such a lovely scene. That’s when I saw a bunch of runners, getting their miles in.

I headed back to South End for a 10k.

Let the shenanigans begin.
