COVID-19, ‘ The Rona Era”

I made a goal, a promise to myself that I would run 9 miles to mark the 9th month of the year. I did earlier run 10 miles a couple weeks ago as a pacer for my BGR sole sista as she ran 26.2 miles for the Boston Marathon. So clearly, it can be done. I haven’t been up on my mileage game. Today was going to be the long Saturday 9 mile run.

This morning I got up my normal 5 a.m. early time. Then I thought, I’m tired, this week has been extra exhausting and crazy with all the extra social justice battles, so I’m going to sleep in an extra hour. It’s sad that I had to give myself permission to do this. By 6:45 a.m. I was out the door, which to me is late but that’s ok.

It was cool and foggy out this morning as I made my way to Revere Beach. I’m not sure how many nice “ beach days” there will be left to run before it get super cold.

By 6:45/7 a.m., there were a lot of people walking, running, sleeping, and hanging out on the beach. There were construction workers waiting to start work, on a Saturday…who knew? I knew the later that I would run, there would be more people out. I just had to get over myself and deal with it. I know come late fall and winter , I’ll have my running space to myself. :)

Running along the beach I saw the gathering of my stalkers! All the seagulls took over the beach. I had never seen so many before. I personally think they are organizing and planning for a protest, which I would support. Seeing the sea of seagulls( not the former music group of the 80s) brought me some extra running joy.

When the weather is cool, I feel my running stride is good. I was running along until I realized that I needed to be home to get ready for my day of traveling up north to see the Fall foliage and then Boston lights at the zoo. I wanted to make the most of this Saturday. I opted to run a 10k instead of my 9 mile plan. I have four days to make this happen before October.

6.16 miles , 1:02:15 10:06 min/mile. I’m getting better. Cheers to Saturday Beach Running
